A Path For Each Of Us

Sometimes in life, the trail we start on is not the trail we finish, but we are always going somewhere. Sometimes we lose our way, and find our way back, other times we find a new path, altogether.

For most of us, this year has been one from hell. Personally, while I have felt some of its effects, 2020 could never hope to compare to 2018—the year that a major life event rocked my world and changed the direction of my life forever.

Only a couple of months into the New Year and the woman I loved and married had left me for someone else. I adored her. My heart was ripped out of me. I like to think that I’m a talented writer, but no words can adequately describe the emotional tumult that I endured, and sometimes still do (though, not as bad, thankfully). That first year was the hardest and I thought things would never be okay again. There were times when I thought I would be better off dead, and I tried…

Sometimes you lose what’s most important to you, but you gain something in return. For me, I’ve found an incredible love for the outdoors, history, photography, filmmaking, and adventure! These passions have reinvigorated me with a new zest for life. There’s so much out there, so much to discover, and I want to see as much as I can, and share it with the world!

These days, life is far from perfect. It can be difficult, and if I’m not actively engaging in these life-giving passions and other healthy activities, old voices can creep back in. However, I have found joy in forging a new path. I don’t know where I will end up, but I’m enjoying the journey, and I’m happy you’re here, too!

In life, as in the wilderness, getting lost is scary—but be brave! Remember this: whichever path you take, make sure you’re moving forward, even if that means you have to take a few steps back. ?❤️
